About
Me From
1985 to 1988 I worked as a student counsellor at Griffith University
which enabled me to develop skills not only in general counselling,
but in areas relating to:-
the development and implementation of effective study techniques;
achieving a balance between study demands and social activities;
stress management;
examining career issues.
I have also worked as a psychologist
at the Greenslopes Repatriation General Hospital. During my time
at the hospital I gained insight and experience relating to the
impact of ageing upon individuals and their families. In addition
to assessment of function I provided support and assistance in developing
appropriate lifestyle choice.
Whilst working in the hypertension
unit I provided support to people experiencing health changes and:-
instruction in relaxation techniques, considered
an important treatment modality by the head of the unit;
aided in making lifestyle changes.
I was also involved in other areas relating
to lifestyle change including the smoking
cessation clinic and obesity clinics.
In 1988 and again in 1991 my employment
at the Rosemount Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Stones Corner
Psychiatric Clinic provided me with the opportunity to:-
provide support to psychiatric patients and
their families;
utilise formal psychological
assessment to assist in the development and
implementation of treatment plans.
I have worked as a private
practitioner since 1986 and during this time have a range of areas
including:-
Life Coaching
Stress management.
Self esteem.
Re-establishing life goals
following accident injury or ageing.
